Automated Micro-Needling

skincare_2758415aHow does it work?

Automated micro-needling (or Collagen Induction Therapy) is a new innovation for the treatment of fine lines, acne scars and improvement of skin texture, colour and tone. During the treatment a sterile needle-tip containing 12 tiny micro-needles is attached to the MicroPen. The pen will be gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding across the skin until the entire treatment area has been covered. The needles create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to produce collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in a thicker dermis with softer wrinkles.

Who should be treated?

This treatment is suitable for anyone concerned with wrinkle reduction, skin texture and tone improvement, and wanting softer, younger-looking skin. It also has a positive effect on treating acne scars.

What does it feel like?

A topical anaesthetic is applied prior to the treatment which greatly reduces any sensation experienced during the treatment. The feeling associated with the treatment can be likened to sandpaper being moved across the skin.

What is the downtime?

Immediately following the treatment you can expect the skin to be red. The length of time it takes for the redness to subside depends on the depth of the needles used but lasts on average between 24 – 48 hours.

How many treatments are required and when will I see results?

Although an improvement can often be seen after only one treatment, for optimal results most clients will need a series of 2-3 treatments spaced 6-8 weeks part. Clients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin following their first treatment. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several weeks. Results continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment as collagen production continues.
